These compact, high-resolution linear actuators are available with closed-loop position feedback for high precision positioning and motion control. P-170, P-171, P-172, 173 and P-178 Piezo Translators can be employed for static and dynamic motion applications. They provide sub-millisecond response and sub-nanometer resolution.
Standard models can be run in open loop control and provide high resolution. For highest accuracy and repeatability, select the P-177.10 closed-loop control option integrating ultra-high resolution feedback sensors for operation with PI high performance servo control electronics (learn more on Position Sensors and Closed Loop Operation ).
P-178 precision PZT linear actuators are equipped with different Piezoelectric layers compared to P-170 to P-173 actuators models, providing more displacement in the same package. On the other hand, the maximum operating voltage is limited to -1000 V.
Also, voltages in excess of -750 V are recommended only for short periods of time for the P-178 models.
The Piezo stacks are protected from external influence by an aluminum case. Standard top piece is a magnet, standard bottom piece is a ferromagnetic steel flat. A variety of optional top and bottom pieces are available for ease of mounting. For push/pull forces up to 3 N, the translator can be mounted by clamping around the case. For larger forces, the translator must be mounted by the base.
