A new Hexapod for high loads to 500 kg (1000+ pounds) is available. The H-855 provides better than 1 micrometer minimum incremental motion over a 200 mm travel range in XY and of 0.15 µm over a 100 mm travel range in the Z direction. The linear repeatability is also better than 1 µm.
The maximum tilt and rotation angle of the Hexapod is 70°. An absolute encoder option is now also available. The encoder detects the actual position of the axes after power up rendering reference moves a thing of the past. This is useful in confined spaces, or when the reference position cannot be reached due to obstacles in the path.
The H-855 can be mounted in any orientation: for horizontal operation it can handle loads up to ½ metric ton. A high-performance hexapod controller and software provide the user with easy access to the full 6-DOF capabilities of the hexapod.
For even higher loads in the 1000 kg range, custom high load hexapods are available.
Motion Controller & Motion Software
PI hexapod 6-axis stages are very easy to use and integrate. A dedicated C-887 hexapod motion controller and an extensive motion software package is available. Motion is commanded in directly in Cartesian coordinates. The selection of an arbitrary, pivot point is via one software command (important for alignment applications). In addition, the digital controller supports a LabVIEW-based software environment. The integration in text-based programming languages under Microsoft Windows or Linux is simplified by program libraries and exemplary codes.
Hexapod Simulation tools and virtual hexapod software is included. They can be made available in advance. This way, the virtual Hexapod can be tested and integrated in the customer before delivery to save valuable time.
